We finished our Brown Bear books today! This book will stay in our book boxes so we can practice reading it.
We are working on letter recognition. Students circle letters on the page. Ask your child to say a letter poem they know. This will get them started...A is for alligator... Friendship Book Every student has a page. Each day we learn about one of our friends in the class and write about them. Some of the first words kindergarteners recognize are the names of their friends. Does your child have trouble answering this question at the end of the day? That is normal. I will try to keep you updated on what we are doing. Last week we spent a lot of time getting to know the routines of being in school. We practiced cutting and using glue. We read several books and learned about our school. This week we will be diving into our learning activities more.
Expect for your child to come home tired. Adjusting to school is exhausting. They may be extra emotional or even just plain grouchy. They will adjust within a few weeks. Please let me know of any concerns. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at Meet the Teacher Night on Tuesday, August 13 at 6:00. Please bring your school supplies with you to Meet the Teacher Night.
The classroom is ready! I thought you might enjoy a sneak peek of your kindergarten classroom so I have posted a few pictures. See you soon! |
